Lorraine Fossen, 82, New Rockford, ND, formerly of Maddock, ND, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, in New Rockford ND. Funeral Services will be Monday, November 10, 2014 at 11:00AM at the North Viking Lutheran Church in Maddock, ND, with visitation one hour prior to service. Pastor Allen Campbell will be officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, November 9, 2014 from 10:30AM to 2:00PM at the Nelson Funeral Home of Maddock, ND. Interment will be at North Viking Lutheran Cemetery, Maddock. Casket bearers will be Joel Benson, Nathan Benson, Brian Ordahl, Kris Visness, Mike Loken, and Gary Loken. Honorary bearers are grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Music will be provided by Rachel Markestad. Memorials are preferred to Maddock Ambulance, Maddock Fire Department, and Benson County Transportation.
Lorraine, was born on the Piper farm near Minnewaukan, ND on February 22, 1932, to Hiram and Hulda (Jacobson) Piper. She married Tilford Fossen, on February 21, 1953 in Mineral Wells, TX. She graduated from BCATS in 1950, then received her teaching certificate. She taught school in a one room school house, worked at the Haukness store in Maddock for years, Farmers State Bank for over 20 years, Glitter and Glass, and Maddock Drug Store. She enjoyed having a clean house, baking, cooking, and shopping for shoes, jewelry, and purses and attending events in the community, such as her grandchildrens sports and church functions. She enjoyed reading and most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Lorraine is survived by her children: Alicia (Joel) Benson, and twins Jim (Cindy) Fossen, and JoAnn (Brian) Ordahl. Grandchildren: Jessica (Benson) Montgomery, Heather (Benson) Symons, Amber (Benson) Boom, and Nathan Benson. Angela (Fossen) Visness and Monica (Knowlen) Stevahn. Breanna and Mataya Ordahl. Many great-grandchildren.
Lorraine is preceded in death by both parents: Hiram and Hulda; husband: Tilford, and siblings: Henry, Harvey, Robert, George, Ena, and twins Lois and LeRoy.
