Obituary

Lorraine Marlys Risovi Hakanson, 88, Maddock, ND, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2018 at Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon, ND surrounded by her family, and went to her heavenly home. Funeral Services will be 1:30 pm, Friday, February 23, 2018 at North Viking Lutheran Church, Maddock, ND with Pastor Allen Campbell and Pastor Shawn Bowman officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be at Klara Lutheran Cemetery. Music will be provided by Rachel Markestad and Suzanne Bowman. Memorials are suggested to Klara Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund 4270 29 th St. NE Heimdal, ND 58341, Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon 1116 9 th Ave. Langdon, ND 5829 or a charity of donor's choice.

Lorraine Risovi was born in Wells County, ND to Anton and Rose Risovi of rural Heimdal, ND on August 15, 1929. She was baptized and confirmed at Concordia Lutheran Church in rural Hamburg. Lorraine attended school at the rural Heimdal District School and also in Heimdal. She then worked at Roy Hunters Café in Maddock.

On August 15, 1948 she married Odell Hakanson in Harvey, ND. To this union three children were born. They made their home on Odell's parent's farm near Heimdal. In 1956 they moved to Fargo for a short time and then moved back to the farm. In 1975 they built and moved into a new home in Maddock. They were members of the Klara Lutheran Church.  They celebrated their 50 th wedding anniversary on August 15, 1998. Odell died December 16, 2007. Lorraine moved to an apartment at the Maddock Memorial Home in 2012 and subsequently to Maple Manor Care Center in 2015.

Lorraine farmed with her husband Odell, and she was a cook at the BCATS and Maddock School and worked at Custom Wood Products. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, baking, and tending to her yard and flowers. She was not one to throw anything away and was ahead of her time in upcycling and recycling. She traveled with Odell to Sweden, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Canada and various places in the US as well as frequent trips to visit her children and grandchildren in Colorado, Minnesota and North Dakota.

Surviving Lorraine are her children Ansel (Peggy) Hakanson of Maddock, ND, Dean (Connie) Hakanson of Langdon, ND and Sherry Hakanson-Moore of Steamboat Springs, CO; Grandchildren: Kevin (Stacy) Hakanson, Kristin (Steve) Spickenreuther, Travis (Megan) Hakanson, Bailey (Nathan) Germann, and Brian Moore; eleven Great-Grandchildren: Emma, Audra, Christian, Savanah, Jonathan, Matthew, Amanda, Christina, Devin, Hailee, Lizzie; She is also survived by two sisters-in-law Marcella Risovi and Vera Risovi and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers Frank and Raymond Risovi, three sisters Ida Larson, Agnes Erickson and Irene Larson.
