Obituary

Lyle Carl Bracken, 83, Leeds, ND, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 in Grand Forks, ND under Comfort Care surrounded by his family. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m., Monday, April 2, 2018 at Nelson Funeral Home in Leeds, ND.  Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the North Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Leeds, ND with Pastor Michael Rohrer officiating. Visitation on Tuesday will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at the North Prairie Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Lyle was born on March 29, 1934, to Lewie and Christine (Rodland) Bracken at Hurricane Lake Township. He attended country school in Normania Township, and grades nine and ten at Leeds High School. He left school to farm in Springfield Township with his father. In 1953, Lyle enlisted in the U. S. Army until 1955 when he was honorably discharged.

Lyle was united in marriage to Beatrice L. Kuntz September 29, 1956, in Crookston, MN. He worked in Devils Lake for a few years. In 1963 he moved back to Leeds and took over the farming operation with his brother Curtis. Beatrice passed away June 12, 1996.

In 1997, he retired and moved in to Leeds. Lyle married Harriet Deplazes Green on June 8, 2002 at North Prairie Lutheran Church.

Lyle loved a good game of pinochle, riding his motorcycle, visiting with friends, or making new ones, which he wasn't able to do because of his health the last couple of years. Lyle will be truly missed, loved always, and never forgotten.

Survivors include his wife Harriet, three sons Steve (Mary) of Devils Lake; Richard (Melody) of Brinsmade; Rob of Cando; a daughter, Dawn (Mark) of Leeds; one step son Charles (Jenny) Green of Standard, Alberta; two step daughters Tracinda (Art) Plenart and Julie Green both of British Columbia; 10 grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 16 step great grandchildren; three brothers Roger (Marcia) and Curtis (Beverly) all of Devils Lake; Gordon of Grafton, ND; a brother in law Leroy Lunde of Devils Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Beatrice; two brothers Orris and Orlando; three sisters, Irene Lysne, Helen Bracken and Delores Lunde; great grandson Gabriel Hermanson; step sons Kenneth and Matthew Green.
