Lyle Dodds, 67, Leeds, ND, died Saturday, April 4, 2015, while in hospice care at Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, N.D. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Leeds Lutheran Church in Leeds, ND with Pastor Michael Pretzer officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Nelson Funeral Home in Leeds, ND. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Leeds Lutheran Cemetery in Leeds, ND following the service.
Lyle David Dodds was born May 13, 1947, in New Rockford, ND, the son of David and Goldie (Landon) Dodds. He graduated from New Rockford High School, New Rockford, and attended Lake Region Community College and the University of North Dakota, where he earned his business administration degree in 1972. He married Darlene Kay Jorgenson on Oct. 17, 1969, in Leeds. After college, he briefly worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield in Grand Forks before going back to his farming roots near his hometown of New Rockford. He worked for Great Plains Lumber in Leeds before moving with his family to Dickinson ND, to manage Hanson Lumber Company. He also worked for the TMI manufacturing plant in Dickinson for 17 years. He and Darlene eventually settled back in Leeds, where they've lived for the past 13 years. In recent years, he worked for the Fort Totten Historical Society and for Benson County. He enjoyed all things aviation, attending many air shows over the years. He also loved working with wood, camping, hunting, fishing and bird watching with his family.
He is survived by his wife, their three sons, David (Jennifer), Grand Forks; Derek (Codi), Minot; and Joshua, Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo; three brothers, Stanley, Bismarck; Everett, Langdon; and Jerry, Fargo; three sisters, June (John) Koch, Alexandria; Gayle Dodds, New Rockford, and Ronda (Donny) Hoffarth, Langdon; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Darlene Lewis.
