Marlene Kay
Scott
Jul 11, 1956 — Aug 22, 2024
Maddock
Marlene Kay Scott, 68, of Maddock, ND passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024 at her home, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the North Viking Lutheran Church in Maddock with Pastor Cassie Borges officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM followed by 7:00 PM Prayer Service Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the Nelson Funeral Home in Maddock. Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in rural Maddock, ND.
Marlene was born on July 11, 1956 to Everett and Georgia Norton in New Rockford, ND, where she was raised on a farm and went to school. Marlene began working as a waitress, cook, and helped her dad plant trees for the soil conservation. Marlene was the proud mother of her son, Brent, and daughter, Felicia.
In 1985, Marlene moved to Esmond, ND and managed a restaurant. In 1991, she moved back to new Rockford and started working with the Developmentally Disabled, which she did until later becoming a Qualified Service Professional (QSP) helping individuals in their homes with daily living activities. In 1996, she met the love of her life, David (Sam) Scott, moved to his family farm east of Maddock, and married September 14, 1997. Unfortunately, their time together was cut short, when David passed away September 1, 2002.
Marlene's love for her family was no secret. Her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids meant the world to her. She enjoyed being outside, whether she was mowing, gardening, listening and watching her birds, having a bon fire, or just relaxing on her porch. She enjoyed canning, baking, and cooking. Marlene was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in September 2022. She fought a long hard battle until she couldn't fight anymore.
Marlene is survived by her son, Brent (Mary) Williams of Moorhead, MN; daughter, Felicia Schultz of Lisbon, ND; grandchildren, Halley (Arens) husband Ivan Charette, Kali Williams, Hunter Schultz, and Emerson Schultz; great-grandchildren, Bentlee Arens, Harlow Arens, and Elijah Wanek; siblings, Diana Ziegler, Robert (Bobby) wife Alice, and Larry (Barb) Norton; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Georgia Norton; husband, David (Sam) Scott; brothers, Billy Norton, Donny Norton, Paul Norton and David Norton.
