Obituary

Marvin Moody, 94, of Maddock, ND and formerly of Lincolnshire, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at his home. Private family service will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the charity of donor's choice.

Marvin was born October 11, 1924 in Chicago, IL to Julius M Moody, Sr. and Laura (Stockstill) Moody. He was raised in southern Mississippi and Des Moines, IA. Marvin graduated from Industrial High School in Cyber, MS in 1942. He attended Iowa State College, Ames and was in the ROTC. He enlisted full time in the US Navy in 1943. Marvin was trained as a pilot and served until 1945 when WWII ended. He remained in the Naval Reserves until 1957. Marvin graduated from Iowa State College in 1946 with a degree in electrical engineering. In 1948, he graduated from the University of Iowa School of Law.

Marvin married Alice C Pitz of Middle, IA in 1950. He was employed as a patent attorney by the Collins Radio Company of Cedar Rapids, IA. In 1967, he and his family moved to Lincolnshire and he practiced patent law with the Hill Firm of Chicago until 2000 and retired in 2002.

Marvin had many interests and enjoyed telling his numerous stories. He liked to travel and was an avid reader. Marvin loved his family dearly, including his many relatives in Mississippi.

Marvin is survived by his son, Mark Moody of Santa Cruz, CA; daughter, Marie (James) Fragodt of rural York, ND; grandchildren, Laura (Brent) Nichols, Alex Moody, Kelly Fragodt and Eli Moody; great-grandchildren, Owen and Everly Nichols; sister, Ellen Ford of Little Rock, AK; numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Alice; son, Bob; brother, Robert; parents, Julius and Laura Moody.
