Mildred T. Togstad, 90, of Maddock, ND,  died Sunday, November 25, 2012, at the Heart of America Medical Center Long Term Care in Rugby, ND.  Funeral services will be Saturday, December 1, 2012,  2:00 PM  at North Viking Lutheran Church in Maddock with Pastor Allen Campbell officiating.  Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at Maddock.  Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7pm at the Nelson Funeral Home in Maddock.

Mildred Thelma. Lunde was born April 11, 1922 at Paxton, Il the daughter of Thomas and Lillie (Alveshere) Lunde. She was raised and attended school in Paxton.  Mildred came to the Maddock area and cared for the family of Henry and Delores Benson following the death of  Henry.  She married Rueben Togstad on   February 6, 1959 at Harvey, ND.  They farmed near Heimdal, ND and in Albert Township, near Maddock.  They retired in 1977 and moved into Maddock in 1986.  Rueben passed away September 24th, 2009.  Mildred lived for a time at the Maddock Memorial Home before moving to the Heart of America Long Term Care in Rugby in March of 2010.

Mildred was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and active in its WELCA until its closure.  She then became a member of North Viking Lutheran Church in Maddock.  She was a member of the Sons of Norway.  Mildred make quilts for all of the grandchildren and many for the Immanuel Lutheran WELCA.  She loved to bake and cook, especially Norwegian delicacies and was noted for her apple pies.

Surviving are her daughters:  Diane Togstad of Devils Lake,  Eileen Hoerauf of Spokane, WA and Janice (Henry) Sorenson of Minot;  4 grandchildren:  Derick (Heather) Hoerauf,  William and Matthew Primrose and Hannah Eckert;  2 great-grandchildren:  Jared Hoerauf and Tyler VanVlyman; a sister-in-law:  Hazel Williams of Maddock, a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband:  Rueben;   son-in-law:  David Hoerauf,  a grandson:  Bradley Hoerauf and brothers:  Earl and Donald Lunde.

Diane,  You have my deepest sympathy in the loss of your Mom. I took care of Mary Nottestad and I remember them coming to her birthday parties. She and your dad were such pleasant people to visit with. Also your dad helped us out with snow removal a few times.
