Mylo M. Strand, 79, of Leeds, ND,  died early Friday, February 20th, 2009, under the care of Mercy Hospice at the Good Samaritan Center in Devils Lake.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 24, 2009,  2:00 PM  at Leeds Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Budd officiating.

Burial will be later in the spring in the Leeds Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7pm at the Nelson Funeral Home in Leeds and Tuesday at the church an hour before the service.

Casket bearers will be:  Lennis Foss,  Virgil Anderson,  Gordon Modin,  Paul Flesher,  Ryan Flesher,  David Flesher,  Brad Wentz and Roger Wentz.

Honorary bearers will be:  Russell Anderson,  Richard Anderson,  Victor Anderson,  Lee Larson and Leland Tangelin.

Music will be from Darlene Albertson, soloist with Doris Michaels, organist.

Mylo Manfred Strand was born August 13, 1929 at Harlow, ND, the son of Arnold and Stella (Tangelin) Strand.  He was educated at the Lake Ibsen rural school and then farmed with his father east of Leeds.  Following is father's death, Mylo continued to farm until retiring in 1995.

He was a member of Leeds Lutheran Church, the Devils Lake Elks Lodge and Sons of Norway.  Mylo loved fishing and traveling.

Surviving are sisters:  Arleen Axness of Leeds, ND and Elaine Wentz of Rapid City, SD;  a brother:  Rodney (Marlene) Strand of Devils Lake, ND and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents;  brothers-in-law:  Lawrence Axness and Leo Wentz and a nephew:  Randy Wentz.

Mylo, I was so sorry to hear you are gone from our world but happy that have the peace and rest that you so deserve. You were such a great friend to my dad and then to me after he was gone. I will surely miss all the wonderful conversations we had about local history, especially Harlow and Brinsmade and the love of baseball history we shared. To Arlene and all of Mylo's family I don't need to tell how how much Mylo will be missed by everyone who knew him. He was such a caring, honest and truly wonderful human being who will never be forgotton but terribly missed!
