Myrtle Haugen, 93, of Fargo, formerly of the Maddock and Harvey, ND areas, died Monday, December 6, 2010 at the Bethany Homes in Fargo.  Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 2:00 PM at North Viking Lutheran Church in Maddock with Pastor Allen Campbell officiating.  Burial will be in the Fron Lutheran Cemetery, rural Maddock.  Visitation will be Saturday at the church from noon until the time of service.  Casket bearers will be  Michael Haugen,  Josh Haugen,  Richard Haugen,  Glenn Fraase,  John Kuhn and Kevin Gigstad.  Music will be from Rachel Markestad, pianist and soloist.

Myrtle (Haugen) Haugen, the daughter of John and Oline (Myrum) Haugen, was born March 24, 1917 in Arne Township, rural Maddock, ND.  She was baptized and confirmed at the Fron Lutheran Church rural Maddock and attended the rural Arne Township school.  On October 1st, 1935, Myrtle was united in marriage to Ingman Haugen at Minnewaukan, ND.  The couple farmed in Arne Township for a number of years and then moved into Maddock.  Myrtle was employed at the Palace Café for a time,  co-managed the Coop Grocery Store and worked part-time at Milde's Hardware Store.  The family moved to Harvey, ND in 1966, where she was employed for 17 years in the dietary department of St. Aloisius Medical Center.  Myrtle and Ingman celebrated 60 years of marriage. After Ingman's death on December 27, 1995,  Myrtle moved to Fargo to be closer to family.  She lived for a year with her son, Duane, then moved to an apartment in University Manor, living there until becoming a resident of Bethany Homes in 2006.

Myrtle was a member of North Viking Lutheran Church, active member of the Rebecca Circle, and a life member of the Sons of Norway.

Surviving are sons:  Phillip (Mary) Haugen of Spokane, WA,  Gene (Janis) Haugen,  Keith Haugen and Duane (Candace) Haugen all of Fargo;  15 grandchildren,  15 great-grandchildren,  2 great-great-grandchildren,  and brothers:  Selvin Haugen of Glendale, AZ and Ivar (Elnor) Haugen of Maddock.

Myrtle passed away Monday, December 6, 2010 at the Bethany Homes in Fargo. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband;  3 brothers:  Reidar,  Obert & Melford Haugen;  3 sisters:  Thordis Elvina Haugen (1),  Thordis Elvina Haugen (2) and Judy Barr.
