Obituary

Norman V. Sminesvik, 84, of Leeds, ND and formerly of Harlow, ND, passed away Monday, September 28, 2015 at his home. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, October 5, 2015 at the Nelson Funeral Home in Leeds, ND at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Michael Pretzer officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at a later date. Military rites will be conducted by the Leeds American Legion Post #101, the Robert Tovsrud VFW Post #757 of Harlow and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team. At Norman's request, his body will be donated to the University of North Dakota for advancement in science.

Norman Victor Sminesvik was born to Ole and Rachel (Muri) Sminesvik on March 7, 1931 in Harlow, ND. He attended grade school in Harlow and graduated High School in Maddock, ND. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in April 1960.

He attended Wahpeton school of science earning a degree in T.V. repair. He worked as a T.V. technician after completing college and then worked for several farmers in the Harlow and Leeds area.

Norman was a life time member of the Leeds American Legion Post #101.

Norman is survived by his sisters, Gladys Owens and Ruth Knudson; a brother, Olaf Sminesvik and multiple nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
