Owen Harold Blegen, 68, of York, ND passed away on Saturday February 2, 2019 at his home under the care of hospice. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Leeds Lutheran Church in Leeds, ND with Pastor Elaine Sveet officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with 7:00 PM Prayer Service Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the Leeds Lutheran Church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at the St. Petri Lutheran Cemetery in rural York, ND in the spring.   Music will be provided by Dan and MiChelle Nybo.  Casket Bearers will be Jim Tufte, Paul Tufte, Mike Hoffart, Greg Anderson, David Eric, Brian Knutson, Jerry Eberle and Bryan Britsh.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the St. Petri Lutheran Cemetery: 115 North Baker Road, York, ND 58386.

Owen Harold Blegen was born July 26, 1950 to Harold and Winnifred (Sosalla) Blegen in Devils Lake, ND. He graduated from Leeds High School in 1968 and furthered his education at North Dakota State University. Owen married Georgine Nelsen on February 17, 1973 at the Leeds Lutheran Church. Together the couple farmed and raised their four children: Shawn, Geoff, Pam and Tyrell. Owen was a lifelong member of the St. Petri Lutheran Church before its closing, where he held various positions. Owen and Georgine have been members of the Leeds Lutheran Church since.

Owen enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, playing cards and shaking dice with his family and friends. He also enjoyed playing and watching sports, especially the NDSU Bison, Pittsburgh Steelers and Class "B" Basketball. Owen's favorite pastime was spent with his grandchildren.

Owen is survived by his wife of 45 years, Georgine; children, Shawn Blegen of York, ND, Geoff (Darcy) Blegen of Devils Lake, ND, Pam (Josh) Krivarchka of Langdon, ND and Tyrell (Ashley) Blegen of Leeds, ND; grandchildren, Cambree Blegen, Grady Blegen, AJ Blegen, Breck Krivarchka and Baylor Krivarchka; sisters, Mary Jo Harmel, Diane (Jim) Ogann and Vikki (Curt) McCleary.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harold and Winnifred (Sosalla) Blegen; brother, Orlin Blegen; brother-in-law, Rollie Harmel; mother and father-in-law, George and Nyla Nelsen.
