Patricia M. Scott, 80, of Maddock, ND, died Thursday, November 24th, 2011, at the Heart of America Medical Center (Long Term Care) in Rugby, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, 10:00 AM at St. Williams Catholic Church in Maddock with Fr. Brian Bachmeier officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, rural Maddock. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7pm with a 7:00 PM Rosary followed by a 7:30 PM Wake all in the church. Casket bearers will be: Dave Holje, Curtis Hvinden, Joel Lunde, Jerry Rameden, Richard Lynne and Doug Arnston. Music will be from Melissa Benson and Becky Brandvold.
Patricia Margaret Scott was born October 4, 1931 at Kirksville, MO to Aloysious and Zelda (Jackson) Poston. Her younger years were spent in Little Rock, AK, Beach Grove, IN and St. Cloud, MN. On June 7, 1952, Patt and John D. Scott were married in St. Cloud, MN. They settled on a farm north of Maddock. Patt worked for a time in Minnewaukan as the deputy auditor for Benson County. She later operated an upholstery business and greenhouse. In 1986, the couple opened an insurance agency. Patt became a resident of the Heart of America Long Term Care at Rugby in August of this year.
Patt was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church in Maddock, serving on the church council and as president of the Altar Society. She also had been vice president of the Maddock PTA. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and teaching ceramics and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
Surviving are her husband: John of Maddock; daughters: Kathy (Michael) Schimetz of Minot, Nancy (Dan) Schulte of Sioux Falls, SD and Lynn (Jim) Langston of Wahpeton; daughter-in-law: Marlene Scott of Maddock; twelve grandchildren: Rob Schmit, Thad Schmit, Jessica Scott, Christine Villareal, JD Scott, Jacqueline Scott, Jared Scott, Steven Lee Scott, Samuel Scott, Andrew Scott, Felicia Schultz & Brent Williams; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother: Dr. Lawrence (Vera) Poston of Bloomington, MN; and a sister-in-law: Mary Poston, of St. Paul, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sons: John, Jr., David "Sam" and Steve; and a brother: Michael Poston.
