Phyllis Maddock, 84, of Maddock, ND, died Thursday, October 3, 2013, at St. Aloisius Medical Center in Harvey, ND.  The Mass at St. William's Catholic Church in Maddock and the burial at Greenwood Cemetery at Maddock will be private.  Celebrating the Mass was Fr. Brian Bachmeier.   Casket bearers were her grandchildren:  Jared Isaak, Dillon Isaak,  Mitchell Fossen,  Kyle Fossen, Alex Sabbe,  Gabby Maddock and Macy Maddock.

Phyllis Wentz was born August 13, 1929 at Silva, ND the daughter of Joseph and Eugenia (Voeller) Wentz.  She was raised at Balta and graduated from the Balta High School.  Phyllis attended Minot State and received her teaching certificate.  She taught at a rural school near Towner before her marriage to Joseph Maddock on May 10, 1956 at Sidney, MT.  The couple lived east of Maddock, raised their and operated Maddock Construction Company until retirement.  Joe passed away December 30, 1992.  Phyllis remained at home until recently moving to the Maddock Memorial Home and then to St. Aloisius Medical Center in Harvey.

She was a member of St. William's Catholic Church and Altar Society in Maddock and  also was a member of the Flora Homemakers.  Phyllis's life was her family.  She enjoyed gardening and Flowers.

Surviving are 3 daughters:  Paulette (Donald) Isaak of Broadus, MT,  Jackie Fossen of Maddock and Almyra "Carty" (Raymond) Buckmeier of Brinsmade, ND;  3 sons:  Wes and Bill of Maddock and Kevin (Sheila) of Grand Forks;  7 grandchildren:  Jared Isaak,  Dillon Isaak,  Mitchell (Yvonne) Fossen,  Kyle Fossen,  Alex Sabbe,  Gabby Maddock and Macy Maddock;  3 great-grandchildren:  Vada & Vyvyan Fossen and Logan Sabbe;  brothers:  Bob Wentz of Fargo and Bill (Maxine) Wentz in Oregon;  sisters:  Yvonne Wentz,  Hattie Witt and Ann Wiebusch all of Fargo.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Joe, granddaughter Jasmine Sabbe and sister Marcy Loberg.
