Randall Allen Jones, 66, of Maddock, ND passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Maddock Community Center in Maddock. Military Funeral Honors and Ceremonial 21 Gun Salute will begin at 4:00 PM to honor Randall's 20 years in the United States Air Force.

Randall was born August 22nd, 1958 in Harrisville, Michigan to Elmer Franklin Jones Jr. of North Dakota and Constance Ann (Stewert) Jones of Michigan. He attended school in various places because of his father's involvement in the United States Air Force. Randall barely graduated from Maddock High School in 1976. Something he was very proud of since school was something he did not enjoy. He carried around his high school diploma in his wallet ever since.

After graduating from high school, Randy joined the United States Air Force. He was sent to Lackland Air Force Base for basic training. After basic training and technical school, he was stationed at McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, Washington as a C-141 Loadmaster. While stationed at McChord was where he met his one true love, Tammie Elizabeth (Tavenner) Jones. On June 28th, 1980 the two were married in a simple ceremony at the chapel on base. The pair welcomed two children, Alex David Jones in 1992 and Rhiannon Marie Jones in 1993. Randy travelled the world on the C-141 seeing places like Japan, Australia, Hawaii, Germany, and Greenland. After 20 years of service, in 1997, Randall was honorably discharged from his duties. Shortly after his retirement from the United States Air Force, he began working with Union Pacific Railroad as a conductor, engineer and trainmaster. This job moved him from Tacoma, Washington to Oregon. He continued this job for another 20 years before he retired in 2018.

After retiring from Union Pacific in 2018, Randall and Tammie moved back to Maddock, ND. He enjoyed retirement by restoring cars; especially his Little Red Express. Everyone in Maddock knew Randy by this truck and his dog Rufus barking out the window going on his daily rides. Another hobby he enjoyed was going on cruises. Randy and Tammie went on dozens of cruises. The cruises brought them to places all over the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and even to Europe. When he wasn't travelling, he could be found at the Maddock City Bar sipping on a cold Coors Light, playing darts and doing chores. Right before he left us, he organized the first ever "jam" session where he invited musicians from town to come and play together. Randy was an avid guitar player. He owned several different types of guitars and loved to plug his headphones in and jam to some of his favorite songs.

Randy was known as a helper. Anytime anyone needed help with something he was there right away. Whether it was changing the oil in your car, plowing your driveway mowing the yard, or any kind of house renovation he was more than happy to lend a hand. He was a tinkerer. Randy knew how to fix just about anything that broke. His help will truly be missed by all his friends and family.

Randy was survived by his wife of 45 years, Tammie; his children, Alex Jones of Maddock, ND, Rhiannon Jones of Maddock, ND; one granddaughter, Emma Schwanke (11 months) of Maddock, ND; his siblings, Brenda (Harold) Fossen of Maddock, ND, Mark Jones (Rebecca Eback) of Maddock, ND, Elliot Jones of Maddock, ND, Elaine Jones (Tony Delorme) of Maddock, ND, Edward Jones of Grand Forks, ND and Jason (Mary) Jones of Maddock, ND; his mom of 62 years, Barbara Davis of Maddock, ND; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Randall was preceded in death by his parents; his infant sister, Cindy Lou; and his infant grandson, Griffin Jones.
