Reuben Grosz, 77, Las Vegas, NV, formerly of McClusky and Bismarck, ND passed away Monday, October 19, 2015, at Summerlin Hospital in Las Vegas, NV surrounded by his family. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at North Viking Lutheran Church in Maddock, ND with Pastor Allen Campbell officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at the North Viking Lutheran Cemetery in Maddock. Music will be provided by Rachel Markestad and Jim Swanson.

Reuben Grosz was born on July 13, 1938 to John & Mary (Jans) Grosz in the McClusky, ND area. He was baptized & confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church of McClusky. He received his elementary education in McClusky & graduated from McClusky High School in 1957. He was an avid sports enthusiast & participated & lettered in football, basketball, & track & field.

Reuben's employment with the North Dakota Highway Department brought him to Maddock, ND, where he met, fell in love with and was united in marriage to Madeline Johnson on October 12, 1958 at North Viking Lutheran church. The couple then moved to Bismarck, ND where their three children were born and raised: Kyle in 1959, Scott in 1960 and Dawn in 1963. He so loved and was proud of the wonderful, compassionate and loving adults they became.

He was employed by these businesses throughout his life in Bismarck: McDowells Big Boy; Clairmont Construction and The Department Public Works for the City of Bismarck. He retired from the later agency with twenty years of service in the year 2000 and had many fond memories of co-workers and friends he made during his employment there.

He also was very proud that he sought and received treatment for his addiction to alcohol in 1974 at the Heartview Foundation Addiction Treatment Center. He maintained his sobriety for 41 years. He believed in Alcoholics Anonymous and the twelve steps. Our children and I were very proud, loved and blessed to have him in our lives. He loved all sports & especially camping and Walleye fishing with his family and friends at Devils Lake and Lake Sakakawea. We have wonderful memories of those years.

Reuben and Madeline moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in July of 2012, where he received treatment for multiple illnesses. He was a member of the Good Samaritan Lutheran Church and a member of Weight Watchers. He enjoyed attending church and spending time with family and friends.

Reuben went to be with our Lord and Savior on October 19, 2015 and is survived by his wife, Madeline of Las Vegas, Nevada, son, Kyle of Mandan, North Dakota, son, Scott of Las Vegas, Nevada and daughter Dawn Black of Columbus, Ohio. Three beloved grandsons: Zachary of Bismarck, North Dakota, Alexander of Madison, Wisconsin and Nathaniel of Fargo, North Dakota, two precious great-granddaughters, Reagan and Kaelyn Rau and their Mother Shanda. Reuben is also survived by his brother Ervin Grosz of Spokane, Washington, sisters, Norma & Arnold Clemens of Spokane, Washington, Ruth Stromme of Bismarck, North Dakota, and Aldene & Delmar Zakopyko of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many wonderful friends whom he cherished dearly. Those that preceded him in death are: his parents John & Mary Grosz of McClusky, North Dakota, sister Leona Fleming of St Louis, Missouri, Sister Arlene Coover of Columbus, Ohio, brother John Grosz of Minot, North Dakota, and brother Elmer Grosz of Spokane, Washington, mother and father -in-law, Earl and Rosemary Johnson of Maddock, ND, sister-in-law, Donna (Ervin) Grosz of Spokane, WA and brother-law Earl Stromme of Kief, North Dakota.

May our Lord and Savior keep our beloved Reuben in his loving arms. Reuben we will always love you and miss you.
