Rodger Alfred Sogge, 71, of rural Maddock, ND, passed away Friday January 2, 2015 at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015, 2:00 pm at St. Olaf Lutheran Church rural Minnewaukan with Pastor Harold Ovre officiating. Burial will be at the West Minnewaukan Free Church Cemetery.

Rodger Alfred Sogge was born May 25, 1943 on the home farm rural Maddock, the son of Alfred and Marie (Olson) Sogge. He attended grade school at the Eldon Township country school and graduated from Benson County Agricultural and Training School at Maddock in 1961. He farmed with his dad and also worked for his brother in law James Johnson of Heimdal. Later he worked for the Burlington Northern as a section laborer until his retirement. He married Alice Johnson on June 17, 1967 in Minnewaukan. They later divorced.

Rodger was an active member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church. He enjoyed gardening, volunteering at the Maddock Opera House, and visiting with friends and family.

Surviving are his children: Wayne (Nina) Sogge of New Rockford, ND; Sherri (Randy) Thompson of Minnewaukan, ND; Kipp (Yvonne) Sogge, Clarksville, TN; and Matthew (Kristy) Sebelius of Bismarck, ND; 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; siblings: Mavis (James) Johnson of Heimdal, ND; and Eloyce (Gene) Gaffney of Detroit Lakes, MN; sister-in-laws, Darlyne Sogge of Northwood, ND and Donna Sogge of Cedar Falls, Iowa; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Arne, Roy, Melvin, Floyd, Stephen, Lee and Gordon Sogge; and sister Solveig Hvinden.
