Ruth E. Buehler, 84, of Maddock, ND, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake, ND. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Oberon, ND with Pastor Natasha Woitzel-Kolles officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at the Hillside Cemetery in Oberon, ND. Music will be provided by Mary Ellen Rue and Rachel Markestad.

Ruth Esther Saewert was born February 7, 1932 in Oakes, ND to Albert and Lydia (Bergeman) Saewert. She grew up on a farm near Stirum, ND and attended school there. Ruth was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in Stirum. She graduated high school in Cogswell, ND before attending the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. Ruth worked in the office of JC Penney while earning her Associates Degree in Business Accounting. She met Lewis Buehler during college and they were married June 27, 1952 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Stirum. The couple lived and farmed on the Ed Buehler farmstead and joined the Calvary Lutheran Church in Oberon, ND where she was a member of WELCA and taught Sunday school.

Ruth was a member of the Oberon Homemakers Club, a leader of a 4-H Club, taught Farmers Union youth classes and league bowled in Devils Lake, New Rockford and Maddock. She was the Oberon City Auditor for over 30 years and also served on the Election Board for numerous years. Ruth was a seamstress and enjoyed crafting, needle work, flowers and watching the birds.

Lewis and Ruth were parents of Debra Buehler and Todd Buehler. Deb married Joel Hjelseth, and they have two sons, Jason and Joel David. Todd married Nadley Dempsey, and are the parents of Elisa, Beau, Breana and Hunter. Ruth enjoyed being with all her grandchildren and watching them participate in all their sports and programs.

Ruth is survived by her children: Todd (Nadley) Buehler and Debra (Joel) Hjelseth; grandchildren: Jason (Dawn), Joel David, Elisa, Beau (Bria), Breana and Hunter; brother, Orville Saewert; two sisters-in-law, Betty (Buehler) Moss and Elsie (Gronbeck) Saewert; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Lydia Saewert; husband, Lewis Buehler; infant daughter, Valerie Ruth; brother, Marvin Ernest Saewert; and sister, Verna (Saewert) Nathe.
