Ruth Adeline (Rangen) McKibbin, 89, passed away on Jan. 26, 2018 in Phoenix, Ariz. A Graveside service will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery at 11:30 AM Saturday, July 21, 2018, Hwy 30 Maddock, ND with Pastor Allen Campbell officiating.

Ruth, or Adeline as she was known to family and friends, was born on Aug. 23, 1928 at home on the family farm in North Viking Township, ND and was the eighth of nine children born to Rasmus and Alma Rangen. She graduated in 1945 as the valedictorian of Maddock High School and shortly after went to work for the only bank in Maddock, ND.

Addie married Maurice McKibbin on June 5, 1949and had six boys. She lived with her husband and family on the farm in Maddock until 1963when they moved to Moorhead, Minn., where she again went to work for a bank. Addie then worked for the Neuropsychiatric Institute in Fargo, ND until her retirement in 1987. Maurice and Adeline then moved to Silver Bay, Minn., where they enjoyed the beautiful views of Lake Superior. The winters were long and Maurice and Addie bought a second home in Phoenix and traveled back and forth each year. After selling the Silver Bay home, they moved back to Maddock in 2000and continued to live in Maddock and Phoenix until Maurice's death on Jan. 4, 2013.

Throughout her life, Addie enjoyed road trips and visited every state in the US except Vermont. She and Maurice traveled the Alaskan Highway to the Arctic Circle and even celebrated their 50th anniversary in the 50th state, Hawaii. Addie was an adventurer and a mediator. If you needed something from Maurice, it was best to run it by Addie first to get the best results. Addie created a great and loving environment in which to raise her family and she will be truly missed.

Adeline was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice; sons Brian and Mark; and grandson Chad.

She is survived by her sisters, Margaret Backstrom of Fergus Falls, Minn., Helen Boney of Roswell, Ga. and Mary Ann Swanson of Phoenix. Her children, James, Dwight, Craig (Stephanie) and Kevin are now mourning the loss of a wonderful mother. Addie is also survived by grandchildren Leah (Jason), Michael (Brandi), Andrew, Mary (Mark) and Laura (Kevin) and great-grandchildren Chloe, Abby, Meredith, Maxwell, Chase, Logan, Stirling, Rose, Mackenzie, Madeleine and Vivienne. We all loved Adeline very much.
