Shane Clifford Smeltzer, 53, of Mesa, AZ and formerly of Leeds, ND passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Banner University Medical Center in Mesa, AZ of a heart attack.  Memorial Service will be at 2:00 PM Monday, June 5, 2023 at Leeds Lutheran Church with Pastor Sharon Baker officiating.  Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM followed by 7:00 PM Sharing of Memories, Sunday, June 4, 2023 at the Nelson Funeral Home in Leeds.  Burial will be at Leeds Lutheran Cemetery.

Shane was born October 22, 1969 to Virgil and Sharon (Mason) Smeltzer, joining his older brother Scott at their home in Leeds.  Shane was baptized, confirmed and lifelong member of Leeds Lutheran Church.  Shane attended Leeds Public School from kindergarten through high school.  Football and basketball were two of Shane's love.  He played both of these from junior high through graduation.

After graduation, Shane received his Aircraft Mechanic license from Cheyenne Wyoming.  Shane worked for Deer Valley Aviation in Arizona. Later he went to work for Wayne Dalton Garage Door until he started his own business "The Garage Door Guy", which was in operation until his death.

Shane, Scott and their Dad Virgil were always together, working and hunting and fishing.  When Shane's nephews were born they joined the fishing and hunting.  Zachery and Jacob (nephews) were very special to him.  Shane's brother Scott passed away May 11, 2023.

Shane is survived by his mother, Sharon Smeltzer Darling; nephews, Zachary Smeltzer and Jacob Smeltzer.
