Shirley Amoth, 69, of Walhalla, ND, went to meet the Lord on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at the home of her daughter in Maddock, surrounded by her family, under the care of Mercy Hospice of Devils Lake, ND, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Shirley Ann was born on September 14, 1939 in Concrete, ND to Leo "Charlie" and Mary "Rose"  (Goulet) Ladouceur. She attended Walhalla Public School and graduated in 1958. She was employed over the years at Walhalla Public School, RMD Farms and Walhalla Cenex.

Shirley lived her life for her children and grandchildren. She was a hardworking woman and loved meeting people, planting flowers, cooking, baking and sewing. Shirley loved watching sports, especially when her children and grandchildren played, as well as watching the Minnesota Twins and UND Sioux Hockey. She was active in the Walhalla Lutheran Church, WELCA and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Shirley was a strong Christian woman whose faith never faltered through her illness.

Shirley is survived by her children:   Donna (Jack) Lorenz of Fergus Falls, MN; Tammy (Dave) Haug of Maddock, Jackie Johnson of Grand Forks,  Kathi (Bryon) Brenneman of Fargo,  Jeffrey Amoth of Walhalla and Julie (Scott) Yantzer of Bismarck. She is also survived by the grandchildren she loved so dearly:  Matthew Lorenz of Grand Forks,   Michael (Emily) Lorenz of Eden Prairie, MN,  Marissa Lorenz of Grand Forks,  Bethanie Haug of Maddock and Jordan Brenneman of Fargo.  She is also survived by her siblings:  Donna Kuck of Ventura, CA;  Lyle (Laura) Ladouceur of Pembina, ND;  Myrna Moore of Grand Forks and Adrian (Angie) Ladouceur of Las Vegas, NV; many nieces and nephews.

Shirley is preceded in death by her mother and father, a sister Lorraine "Pearl" Pitcher, her two baby boys and two brothers-in-law,  Elmer Pitcher and Don Kuck.

Funeral:  Saturday, August 8th, 2009   11:00 AM  at Walhalla Lutheran Church

Burial:  Hillside Cemetery, Walhalla

Prayer Service:  Friday 7:00 PM in the church

Visitation:  Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the church and Saturday an hour before the funeral.





Condolences:

Our condolences goes to the whole family, Shirley was a great person, always full of life. You all are great people because of that, for you had learned from her. I can only hope that we are as good of a parent to our kids, as your mother was to you. She was a strong person, and that is what made her, ..her, she didn't back down from anything, she had great determination. And her family was always her priority in life, as it would be for any kind and loving mother like she was. God Bless you all and may God rest her soul. We'll keep Shirley in our hearts forever.

Dear Donna, Tammy, Jackie, Kathy, and families. I am sorry I could not attend the funeral services as Cindy and I were in Colorado with Laurie. My thoughts and prayer were with you. Your MOM was a very special person to all the lives she touched always a a smile when meeting even if we had no seen each other for a long time. I always felt close to her as she was the sister that was more my age, and always my sister in law. Your love and care for her was so heart warming and such a plesure to read. I sent a letter once then could not get back on again!
I am trying to arrange for Laurie to be back close to us so we can love and care for her as her condition is terminal. Just to let you know you are all in my prayer and thougths, bless all of you. Love Auntie Barb
