Obituary

Thelma Olivia Thompson, 87, of Minnewaukan, ND passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society in Devils Lake, ND after a brief battle with cancer. Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 29, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Trinity Free Lutheran Church in Minnewaukan with Pastor Lu Mathison officiating. Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service at the church. Casket bearers will be Victor Darulis, Sid Bingaman, Leo Sayler, Reg Herman, Rick Tofsrud and Tim Lommen. Music will be provided by Fay Huffman, Rita Thompson Halvorson and Rhonda Thompson Howard. Burial will be in the Trinity Free Lutheran Cemetery, Minnewaukan, ND.

Thelma Olivia Thompson was born March 25, 1927 in Devils Lake to Oleus and Thea (Oium) Krokum. She was raised on a farm on the west shore of Six Mile Bay and attended rural country schools. She attended high school in Devils Lake graduating in 1944. She helped on the family farm until her marriage to Bennie W. Thompson on October 27, 1954. They lived on the farm Bennie had purchased from Clyde Rush in Riggin Township. She worked on the farm with Bennie while raising two sons, Kim and Kevin. Thelma was a Sunday school teacher at Antiochia Lutheran church and sang in the choir at Trinity Free Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines, Pelican Homemakers Club and Ladies Aid. Thelma was very creative and made countless quilts, ceramics and hot pad holders for friends and family. She loved visiting with people, always taking an interest in others' lives, and had a huge soft spot for animals, especially dogs. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren and twin great- granddaughters. Her quick wit and sassy personality will be greatly missed.

Survivors include two sons, Kim and Kevin (Robyn) Thompson, five grandchildren: Olivia, Davis (Megan) Tad, Katrece (Jon) and Miriah, and 2 sisters-in-law, Marjorie Krokum and Janice Krokum. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Ethel and Anna, and her three brothers: Orville, Marvin and Laurence.

Sorry to hear about my aunt's death. She was a wonderful aunt have lots of memories growing up spending summers at my grandparents farm and all the family reunions. She will be missed. Was my mom is youngest sister. Rest in Peace. Praying for the family. Brad and Linda Boudreau
