Obituary

Thomas "Tommy" A.  Hoffner, 44, of Fargo, ND formerly of Esmond, ND, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 24, 2014 at his home surrounded by family and friends under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday,  April 28, 2014, 11:00 AM at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Esmond, with Fr. Brian Bachmeier, celebrant.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday at the church from 6 to 7pm with a 7:00 PM Rosary followed by a 7:30 PM Parish Vigil.  Urn Bearer will be Corey Olson. Honorary bearers will be:  Stacey Pellet,  Wanda Schwab,  Kyle Sabbe,  Craig Arnold, Dennis Randle and Michael Thomas.  Music will be from the St. Boniface Choir and Helen Arnold.

Thomas "Tommy" Alan Hoffner was born May 7th, 1969, the youngest of six children of Eddie and Eileen Hoffner.  He grew up in Esmond, graduating from Esmond High School in 1988.  After high school Tommy worked for the Fessenden Co-Op Elevator, after which he moved to the Grand Forks area and attended UND for a short time.  He then moved to Fargo  where he lived for the remainder of his life.  He worked in sales and construction throughout the years.

Tommy had an outgoing and charismatic personality.  The many friends who cared so deeply for him is a strong testament to the love he showed others. He was a sensitive person and was especially sympathetic to those who were less fortunate.  Tommy never married; however, he did have a few close girlfriends over the years, whom he loved very much.  He enjoyed life to the fullest and yet his favorite pastime was reminiscing with friends.   Tommy loved his friends and he loved his time spent with his friends. He was always willing to listen and help a friend in need.   He was always the center of attention, and yet always had time for everyone in the room.   In 2010, he was diagnosed with colon cancer.  As great changes occurred in Tom's health, there were also great changes occurring in his spiritual life.  Tom surrendered his life to Christ and became unashamed in proclaiming his faith.  He was never afraid to live out loud and share his rebirth in Christ Jesus with others.

Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Hoffner.

He leaves behind his mother, Eileen Hoffner; three brothers: Bobby (Wanda) of Esmond, John (Kelly) of Minneapolis, MN, Danny of Colorado Springs, CO; two sisters: Elizabeth (Jim) Georgioff of Eden Prairie, MN, Frances (Gener) Molina of Colorado Springs, CO; a number of nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends in his life.

Farewell my good friend.

Sorry for your loss of Tommy. I never met any of you, but have known Tommy for 20 years. He was a good friend and I enjoyed my time that I spent with him. The last few times I saw him he told me how his family was doing lots of stuff for him in his time of need. How happy he was to spend time with you. I will miss Tommy and makes me feel better that he is in a better place with his dad. My prayers are with all of you. Brian Kudelka
