Thomas D. Torgerson, 76, of Leeds, ND,  died Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake.  Memorial services will be 1:00 PM  Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Lebanon Lutheran Free Church in Leeds with Pastor Brenda Burns officiating.  Burial will be later in the Lebanon Cemetery, rural Brinsmade, ND.  All relatives and friends will be considered honorary bearers. Music for the service will be from Nancy Silliman and Doris Michaels.

Thomas Duane Torgerson was born November 11, 1934, on the family farm south of Leeds, ND, to Selmer and Carrie (Anderson) Torgerson.  Thomas married Janice Bothun on December 28, 1958 at the rural Lebanon Free Lutheran Church.  After serving in the Army he worked for Larson Implement in Leeds and in 1963, they moved to California where he was employed at the Kelly Moore Paint Company.  They returned to Leeds in 1970 and farmed the family homestead because of his father's health.  Thomas farmed until 1996 when he retired due to paralysis from Transverse Myelitis.  He remained in his home under the care of his wife until March 8, 2011 when he entered the Good Samaritan Center in Devils Lake.

Surviving are his wife:  Janice of Leeds;  a son:  Steven Torgerson and his wife, Kathy, of Osakis, MN;  2 daughters:  Tammy Hoffert and her husband, Pete,  of Minot and Lori Schneider and her husband, Kirk, of Chaska, MN;  6 grandchildren:  Sean Chinburg,  Joshua Chinburg,  Thomas Chinburg,  Hanna Schneider,  Tori Torgerson and Fischer Torgeson and 4 great-grandchildren:  Lauren Chinburg,  Juliana Chinburg,  Jase Chinburg and Josiah Chinburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents;  5 brothers:  Selmer, Jr.,  Earl,  Lester,  Leonard  and Marlin one great-grandchild:  Claire Chinburg.
