Verna Williams, 96, Fargo, ND, passed away on March 11, 2024 at Eventide Fargo. Graveside Services will be at 1:00 PM Friday, May 17, 2024 at the North Viking Lutheran Cemetery in Maddock, ND with Pastor Cassie Borges officiating.  A luncheon will be held at the North Viking Lutheran Church immediately following the service.

Verna Leon Allan was born on August 21, 1927 to parents Everett and Lily (Randle) Allan of rural York, ND. She attended rural one room schools, graduating from Benson County Agricultural and Training School in Maddock, ND in 1945. There she met her forever best friend Walter "Bud" Williams. They married January 16, 1946. They made their home in Maddock. He was the "Standard Oil Man" and she worked at most of the stores in town sometime during her working years, and also in the doctor's office for Drs. Vigeland and Pollard. They added two children to their family; Faye in 1956, and Scott in 1958 which also added much joy and change. The family moved to Fargo in 1965, Verna stayed home until the children were adjusted, then she worked at Northport Ben Franklin eleven years and the Hospitality Coffee Shop, St. Luke's Hospital, for seven years, a job she really loved. Bud and Verna retired in 1986, moving to Sibley, ND as the rural living was calling them again. They came back to Fargo in four years because of Bud's health. He passed away on September 1, 1999. Verna moved to the Trollwood Village apartment complex in 2013. She is survived by her beloved children, Faye and Scott, and many nieces and nephews.

Verna was preceded in death by her loving husband Bud, her parents, all siblings and their spouses: sisters Fern (Edwin) Markestard and Margie (Michael) Pfau, brothers Floyd (Arlene) Allan and Ira (Elvira) Allan, infant siblings Vance and baby boy, and young sister Thyliss Allan.

She felt so blessed for the loving families, all the people she has known through work, Mary/Martha Circle, the quilting groups at church and Trollwood, coffee group at the library and Hope Lutheran Church.

She looked forward to reuniting with those who have gone before to our "forever" home, and to see Jesus who made it possible.

Verna's family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Eventide for the care and compassion shown to Verna during her final moments.
