Wesley W. Fink 82, of Maddock, ND, died Saturday at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Zion Lutheran Brethren Church in Maddock with Pastor Luther Mathison officiating. Burial will be in the Hesper Cemetery, Hesper, ND. Casket bearers will be: Dennis Christianson, Jim Fink, Ron Fink, Gary McCloud, John Rice and Sherman Sylling. Music will be from Yoli Slater, soloist with Kathy Daeley, pianist. Visitation will be at the church an hour before the funeral.
Wesley Wilson Fink was born July 31, 1927 at Maddock, ND, to William and Margaret (McCloud-Wicken) Fink. He attended the Maddock Public School until his family moved to Minneapolis, where he finished his schooling. Wes joined the Army and served in Korea. He worked as a gravedigger in Minneapolis and later worked twenty-five years for McGarvey Coffee Company, retiring in 1989. He married Joyce Christianson-Westrum on April 2, 1988 at Zion Lutheran Brethren Church in Maddock. They lived in Fridley, MN until moving to Maddock in 1990.
Wes kept busy in Maddock by painting homes, being a handyman to many friends and neighbors, his woodworking shop making clocks and picture frames. He also enjoyed puzzle books, driving and countless hours of riding his bicycle and walking.
Surviving are his wife: Joyce of Maddock; a son: Bruce Fink of Minneapolis; a step-son: Rodney (Paulette) Westrum of Williston, ND; a step-daughter: Joan (Daniel) Simpson of Kissimmee, FL; 5 step-grandchildren: Shannon Simpson, Daniel (Katie) Simpson, Sherri (Al) Ulrich, Robert (Angie) Westrum and Carson (Nikki) Dokken; 7 step-great-grandchildren: Megan & Wyatt Westrum, Addison Simpson, Marcus & Sydney Ulrich, Keegan & Colie Dokken and his twin brother: Wilbur Fink of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister: Margaret Fink; brothers: Willard and William, Jr. Fink; step-sister: Iona Clark; step-brothers: Clarence, Lester, Alvin and Victor Wicken.
