Troy Senger

Owner/Licensed Funeral Director

Troy was born in Williston, ND. He grew up on a farm in rural Benson County, ND and graduated from Sheyenne High School. He attended UND-Lake Region College in Devils Lake, ND and graduated from Mid-America College of Funeral Service in Jeffersonville, IN with a degree in Mortuary Science in 1993. He married Cindy Toso of Devils Lake in 1994. In 1995 they moved to Cando, ND where he worked for the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home and the Nelson Funeral Home. In 1999 they moved to Grafton, ND where he went to work for a local funeral home there. He returned to manage the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in August of 2010. Troy and Cindy purchased the Nelson Funeral Home and the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in November 2014. In 2019 Troy and Cindy purchased the Nelson Funeral Homes in Fessenden and Drake, ND. They have a daughter Haylee and a granddaughter Paisley. Troy currently serves on the Towner County Public Health District Board, I.O.O.F. Cemetery Committee, Cando Community Library Foundation Board and is a member of Cando Lutheran Church, the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association where he served from 2012 to 2021 as District Governor, President and Past President and the National Funeral Directors Association.

Cindy Toso Senger

Owner/Funeral Assistant

Cindy was born in Devils Lake, North Dakota and graduated from Devils Lake Central School. She attend Lake Region State College in Devils Lake, ND and North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. She married Troy Senger in Devils Lake on July 1, 1994. In 1995 they moved to Cando, where she worked for a local bank. In 1999 they moved to Grafton where she worked for an attorney for a couple years,and spent the next 9 years at a bank. In 2010 they moved back to Cando, where she has been employed at First State Bank of Cando until her retirement in 2021. She now helps out at the funeral homes as needed. Cindy is a board member of the Cando Area Food Pantry. They have one daughter, Haylee and a granddaughter Paisley. Troy and Cindy purchased the Nelson Funeral Home and the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in November 2014. In 2019 Troy and Cindy purchased the Nelson Funeral Homes in Fessenden and Drake, ND.

Dusty Pierson

Dusty is originally from Fessenden, ND where he graduated from high school in 2004. While attending school at the University of North Dakota, Dusty worked for a local funeral home in Grand Forks, ND for nearly six years. In 2011, he earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree from Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service in Houston, TX. He worked in a corporate structured funeral industry for nearly two years while attending mortuary school. Dusty moved to Langdon, ND upon graduating where he worked for the Brooks, Dunnigan Dix and Nelson Funeral Home for almost three years. Dusty moved to Fargo, ND to work at The Dakota Monument Company as Production Manager before moving to Maddock, ND. Dusty married Brittney Lund of Grygla, MN in 2013. Brittney is a nurse and will be working at the Maddock Memorial Home. Dusty and Brittney are both honored to be members of the Maddock community and look forward to serving families in and around the area.

Val Kanzelman Wright

Funeral Assistant/Licensed Cosmetologist

Val was born and raised in the Maddock area and graduated from Maddock High School. After high school she attended and graduated from Cosmetology School in Jamestown ND and then worked at Adeline's Hair Salon in Devils Lake for 18 months. In 1986 she purchased the hair salon in Maddock and enjoyed managing and operating The Wright Style Salon for the next 27 years. At that time Val also started working for The Nelson Funeral Home. In 2013 she sold her salon and went to work for the USPS as a Rural Mail Carrier. Val is married to Jeff Wright and they have two daughters, Nikita and Natalia.
